A Family Tradition of Craftsmanship
The history of shoemaking – from local shoemaker, to larger locally owned mechanized factories, to the shift in emphasis from construction to design and lower costs that sent manufacturing overseas – comes full circle at Deer Ridge Footwear. In our shop, we strive to maintain the time honored individualized traditions of the shoemaker, while blending them with the advancements of modern materials, processes and knowledge. Inspired by a family history steeped in shoemaking, Deer Ridge Footwear founder, Terrell Walton, pursued and learned the craft of shoemaking from an array of distinguished artists. She is also a certified Pedorthist having studied at Scholl College, Chicago Medical School. The art of shoemaking combined with a desire to improve foot health is the cornerstone of Deer Ridge Footwear.
