How do we do it?

At the center of custom footwear is the customer. During an appointment, a detailed assessment is made of your feet and how they function. Specific measurements are taken along with reference pictures of your feet. Pedographs (ink blots) are made to show pressure spots that inform us about any problems you be experiencing. A cast is made of your feet capturing your unique features and shape. From this cast we carefully create your last, the form which serves as the foundation of shoe building and defines the fit of your shoes.

Customers can select from a wide choice of materials including fine leathers such as butterball cowhide, oil tanned cow, calf or kid, sueded pigskin, fine elk and supple deerskin, and durable light weight synthetics. Most importantly, we will listen to your story and discuss together your personal goals and needs.

After your visit, we will create your individualized pattern and make a trial shoe for you to verify fit. Then the process of crafting your handmade shoes begins. Each step blends the time honored traditions of shoemaking with the latest innovations in materials. This attentiveness to detail combined with the highest quality materials creates footwear of unparallel fit and comfort.

If you are unable to come see us, our home measuring kit is available. We will provide a measuring tape, a diagram, instructions, a questionnaire and paper for “ink blot” foot prints. Of course, we are available to answer questions and guide you through the entire process.
